Is God calling me to go?

In 1915, twenty-eight men were alone, trapped in the ice-covered waters of Antarctica’s treacherous seas.  “Frozen,” as one man put it, “like an almond in the middle of a chocolate bar.”  These were the men of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. They suffered frostbite, gangrene, hysteria, starvation, all for the glory of being the first ones to cross the Antarctic continent from sea to sea. It was the greatest polar journey ever attempted to date.

I watched a link on You Tube recently that presented alarming (or alarmist) statistics on the growth of Islam.  The premise of the clip was that if we don’t begin reproducing at a faster rate, and share the gospel with Muslims they will take over our world.

Fiesta time in northern Spain means four days of super-loud concerts and raucous, drunken parties.  We usually make a point of bundling up the kids and escaping the neighbourhood.  This year however, as part of an intentional season of sowing, we made the decision to stick around and try to connect better with the community that God has called us to reach.

At times I struggle with a lack of fruitfulness in my ministry and even question what my family and I are doing here in the Middle East. But when someone like Nan, a recently baptized new believer, so dramatically turns to him, I’m refreshed in my spirit again and feel able to carry on.  Interestingly, when I first met her I confess I didn't like her at all. She was very hard and abrupt. The woman we see before us now however is a warm loving individual.  That's transformation.
